Karagwe celebrates five years of IPDC-supported community radio
FADECO community radio is celebrating its fifth anniversary since it started operating in 2007. Located in Kayanga town, in the Karagwe district of the United Republic of Tanzania, the radio was created after receiving basic equipment and training from UNESCO's Intergovernmental Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC).

UNESCO supported the organization of training on associative radio in Tunisia
UNESCO, through its Rabat Office, supported the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters in the organization of training on associative radio in Tunisia. The main training session took place from 12 to 14 March 2012 in Gafsa (Tunisia) and was followed, from 15 to 18 March 2012, by a series of training-mentoring workshops for "Sawt el Manajem" radio staff (Radio Voices of the Mines, la Voix des Mines).

Chilean rural community gets access to information thanks to UNESCO-supported project
In November 2010, a high-speed wireless Internet connection was installed in the Andean town of Los Queñes as part of an innovative connectivity initiative to bridge the digital gap in rural areas of Chile. This project, implemented by UNESCO’s Office in Santiago, the Regional Government of Maule, the University of Talca and the city of Romeral, provides the citizens and schools of the Maule region with access to information and new opportunities.
