Véronique Dauge

Véronique Dauge joined the Office in October 2013. Trained as a historian of art and archaeology, Véronique Dauge specialized in Oriental studies and worked in various cultural institutions before joining UNESCO in 1989 to prepare UNESCO’s action for the safeguarding of the site of Angkor in Cambodia. She participated in the establishment of the UNESCO Office in that country where she spent 3 years as Culture officer, contributing to the reinforcement of the national cultural bodies. From 1994 to 1998, she worked at the Division of Cultural Heritage in charge notably of the Middle Eastern files. In 1998, she established the UNESCO Office in the Palestinian territories and concentrated, among others, to build up the new institutions in the field of culture. Between 2001 and 2004, Véronique Dauge moved first to the UNESCO Jordan Office and then to the Cluster Beirut Office, in charge of the culture files in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. At the end of 2004, she returned to Headquarters as Chief of the Arab States Unit at the World Heritage Centre, contributing to the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in the Region: capacity building, monitoring, conservation projects, establishment of a regional network of experts and managers, development of a regional programme.

Matteo Rosati

Matteo Rosati joined the UNESCO Office in Venice in 2005 as Programme Officer in the Culture Unit. Since then, he has been working with increasing responsibilities at the definition and implementation of activities for the enhancement of culture for development in South-East Europe. He contributes to the planning and implementation of activities aimed to reinforce the cooperation with and between the Member States covered by the territorial mandate of the Office, on issues ranging from cultural heritage to the diversity of contemporary cultural expressions. He is the Gender focal point for the Office and responsible for liaising with several universities and scientific institutions in Venice. Matteo Rosati holds a Master’s Degree with honours in Communication Sciences and International Relations. He is the winner of United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA) Fellowship Programme in 2001. Previous work experiences in international relations and development cooperation include assignments with the Delegation of the European Commission at the International Organizations in Vienna (2000), the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Local Technical Unit for Development Cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2001-2003), the World Bank (2004), and the International Management Group (2005).

Laura de Stefani

Laura de Stefani assists the Culture Unit in the follow-up of cultural activities in the framework of the enhancement of Venetian and South-Eastern European (SEE) cultural heritage as well as of the safeguarding of cultural property with special focus on intangible and illicitly appropriated cultural heritage. She also assists in the implementation of the UNESCO-Private Committees Joint Programme for the Safeguarding of Venice. She graduated at University of Udine in Conservation of Cultural Heritage. She joined UNESCO in 2004.

Lisa Santato

Programme Assistant

Lisa Santato assists the culture unit in the implementation of projects with special focus on contracting and support to organization of events. She graduated in Conservation of Cultural Heritage. She attended a Master in “Cultural Tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean basin” and a postgraduate for experts in museum management. She has previous work experiences in management and promotion of cultural events with special focus on organization of art exhibition and in coordination of activities in tourist and cultural Institutes. She joined UNESCO in 2009.
