Water
Enhancement of cooperative and integrated management of the shared water bodies and the related ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the development of strategies to reduce the impact of climate change effects as well as to reduce man induced effects causing natural disasters.
This is achieved mainly by developing experience rooted guidance, tools and recommendations for the implementation of the Ecosystem Services approach in the favour of managers and policy makers responsible for Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) in SEE countries.

RISKBASE
The health of River basins throughout the world is under pressure from economic activities and climate change. UNESCO Venice Office gives support to activities in relation to RISKBASE project (Risk Based Management of River Basins) whose objective is to review and synthesise the outcome of EC FP4-FP6 projects, and other major initiatives, related to integrated risk assessment-based management of the water/sediment/soil system at the river-basin scale. This review and synthesis is executed by leading European scientists and representatives of major, European stakeholder groups. UNESCO is represented in the Advisory Panel (ADPAN) which support the RISKBASE activities and resulting deliverables.
