Georgia - The Oldest Manuscripts Preserved at the National Archives of Georgia

The National Archives of Georgia holds about 900 manuscripts and more than 25 000 Georgian and foreign historical documents. Its chronological frame varies between the 9th-20th centuries. All genres of the old Georgian secular or ecclesiastical literature are presented at the manuscript collection of the fonds. Among them: bibliology, biblical apocrypha, hagiography, homiletics, hymnography, etc. The collection of the historical documents represents the main documentary base to study the different stages of the history of Georgia.
