The city of Aubervilliers commemorates the 150th Birth Anniversary of Tagore (Department of Paris, 12th June 2011)
Commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Tagore (1861 – 1941), Indian composer, writer, playwright, painter and philosopher, first non-European to receive the Nobel Literature Prize, in 1913.
This event is organized by the Bengali Cultural Association in Aubervilliers “Udichi” with the support of the municipality of Aubervilliers and the participation of UNESCO.
The commemoration will take place at the Espace Renaudie at 5pm.
Programme
5 – 5:30 pm: Opening, speeches by His Excellency Mr. Enamul Kabir, and of the Mayor of Aubervilliers, Jacques Salvator
5:30 – 6 pm: Presentation of Tagore by Philippe Benoit, professor and chief of Section of Bengali, Department of Southern Asia Studies at INALCO
6 – 6:30 pm: Presentation by Edmond Moukala, coordinator of the UNESCO Programme “Tagore, Neruda, Césaire for a Reconciled Universal”
7 – 9 pm: Songs, music and dances of Tagore
