Safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage in all its forms –tangible and intangible, cultural and natural, movable and immovable- are key to achieving dialogue, sustainable development and social cohesion.

Throughout its programmes, and in cooperation with all relevant partners and stakeholders, the Venice Office supports and coordinates efforts towards national and regional policy development, conservation and rehabilitation, as well as capacity-building and monitoring actions in South-East Europe.

Half of the 6,700 languages spoken today are in danger of disappearing before the century ends, a process that can be slowed only if urgent action is taken by governments and speaker communities.
