Gender Equality Panel during the WMO Congress
Ms. Saniye Gulser Corat, Director of the Division for Gender Equality in the Office of the Director-General, spoke at a panel discussion entitled “The Benefits of Gender Equality in Weather and Climate Services” on 5 June 2015 at the Centre International de Conference in Geneva.
The panel discussion was organized to mark the Gender Day of the World Meteorological Congress (25 May-12 June 2015) with the objective to raise WMO Members’ awareness on the need to produce and deliver more gender-sensitive weather and climate services as well as to attract more women to science and meteorology.
As one of the panellists, along with representatives of other relevant UN agencies and WMO Member States, S.G. Corat responded to questions on the gender gap in education and UNESCO good practices to address significant gaps, especially in STEM areas.
