Establishing of a self-benefiting Funds-in-Trust for revitalising Adult and Youth Literacy in Nigeria.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bokova and Ms Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’ï, Hon. Minister of Education of the Federal Republic of Nigeria signed on 5 May 2011, a memorandum of understanding for establishing of a self-benefiting funds-in-trust for ‘revitalizing adult and youth literacy in Nigeria’. This agreement of 6,468,233,00 $ intends to accelerate national efforts to achieve Education for All with emphasis on skills development for Empowerment and poverty reduction as previewed in MDG goals 1 and 3.
