Director-General on Official Visit to Costa Rica

UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is on an official visit to Costa Rica from 2 to 6 May on the occasion of the 20th World Press Freedom Day celebrations held in San José, and the award of the UNESCO-Guillermo World Press Freedom Prize.

The celebrations, held under the theme “Safe to Speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media” will take place in the presence of the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla Miranda.

During her official visit to Costa Rica, the Director-General is expected to meet with the President of the Republic and several Ministers in relation with UNESCO, including the Minister of Culture and Youth, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications.
