Latest policy briefs from the UK National Commission for UNESCO - IOC and Category 2 Centres

Latest Policy Briefs

Policy Brief 13 - “An evaluation of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission’s role in global marine science and oceanography”

IOC

The UK has a deep and long lasting commitment to the IOC.  This policy brief reflects upon the IOC’s vital role and makes recommendations for the future.

Policy Brief 16 - “How can UNESCO successfully map the capacity and impact of its Category 2 Centres network?”

Category 2

The need to harness the strength of a growing Category 2 network has been recently highlighted at UNESCO.  Our experts have been thinking along similar lines and the policy brief presents a proposal to take that forwards.  This policy brief builds on the framework set out in the UKNC's first policy brief, "Improving UNESCO's Category 2 Centre network" from July 2012 (ISSN 2050-8212), which was subsequently taken into account in the decision made about Category 2 Centres at the 2013 UNESCO General Conference.
