National Study on the Inclusion of Sexuality Education and Gender Relations in the Initial Level of Teacher Education

As a result of the partnership between UNAIDS, OREALC and UNESCO in Brazil within the Project Promotion of Public Policies on Sexuality Education and Gender Relations in Initial Teacher Training, in 2015, UNESCO in Brazil is charge of carrying out the National Study with Public and Private Higher Education Institutions on Teacher Training Courses in Brazil on the Inclusion of Sexuality Education and Gender Relations in the Initial Level of Teacher Education.

Objective:

The study has the objective of describing the present Brazilian context of including these themes in the initial level of teacher education. For this, it intends to map data that can provide subsidies to help UNESCO and governmental and civil society organizations to develop strategies, programmes and projects that are able contribute to the inclusion of issues related to health care (sexuality education and gender relations) in teacher training, as well as its implementation in school environment. These data and information will be collected through the collaboration of legal representatives, coordinators and professors of the participating Public and Private Higher Education Institutions in Brazil. 

Participants: 

It is expected to have the participation of the following members of each of the 2,276 higher education institutions in Brazil  (105 federal institutions, 116 state institutions, 48 municipal institutions, 2006 private institutions):

  • Legal representatives
  • Course coordinators
  • Professors
