Director-General letter to staff on redeployment

Dear Colleagues,

I wish to inform you that the Redeployment Group has completed‎ its first meeting that was held in a collaborative and constructive spirit, and in the best interest of the Organization. 

As of today, out of a total of 111 affected staff, we have already identified posts for 93 staff members, who will be informed individually and as soon as possible by email, to be followed by a detailed memo for their consideration.

This is a first encouraging step.

Regarding those colleagues for whom a post was not identified at this time, the Redeployment Group will continue its work to review their profiles against posts which may become available in the near future.

I have asked all Directors/Heads of Field Offices to do their utmost to request sister agencies, funds and programmes for support within the UN System for possible opportunities for our locally recruited staff within their duty station.

I wish to commend the commitment of the Members of the Redeployment Group, Senior Management and Staff Associations alike, for their engagement in this exercise.  Every effort will be made to identify available opportunities as they arise within the next three months.

We have gone through challenging times in the last years, and I am pleased that, together, we have managed to overcome one of the most difficult situations which an Organization and its staff have to undergo, requiring hard work, adaptation to change, team vision and spirit.   

In this same spirit, I wish to thank you for your understanding and for your continuous commitment to the Organization and the delivery of its mandate.
