Director-General reports on the implementation of the reform

Paris, 12 February - UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova convened an Executive Board information meeting during which she reviewed UNESCO’s new Medium-Term Strategy (2014-2021) and answered more than 100 questions from the Member States.
"We have finished the previous exercise (2012-2013) resulting in a more focused and profoundly reformed Organization (...) We have completed it without a cashflow deficit and with a Working Capital Fund fully restored," declared the Director-General stressing that despite the tight financial situation, “we have achieved these satisfactory results thanks first and foremost to prioritizing UNESCO”s flagship programs and the measures taken in terms of budget and human resources”.
The Director-General has also announced the restructuring process of the UNESCO sectors in order to make the Organization more effective, as well as the results of the reform on the ground, particularly in Africa, which position UNESCO closer to people’s needs and improve our work in the field.
