10 March 2015 – UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova met with Mr Yukio Takasu, Under-Secretary-General for Management, at UN Headquarters in New York to discuss system-wide management and administrative reform efforts.

As the UN system is currently assessing its preparedness to support Member States in delivering on the emerging post-2015 development agenda, the Director-General informed Mr Takasu of UNESCO’s ongoing reform and fit-for-purpose initiatives, geared towards further strengthening the Organization’s efficiency, results-orientation, and transparency.

In view of the upcoming 29th session of the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM), chaired by the Director-General and hosted this spring at UNESCO Headquarters, the Director-General and the Under-Secretary-General underscored the need to strengthening the strategic focus of the HLCM in support of the UN Chief Executives Board (CEB), and to foster effective collaboration and coherence between all three pillars of the CEB, the High-Level Committee on Management, the High-Level Committee on Programme, and the UN Development Group.
