Preventing and addressing violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression in and through education

Within the framework of the UNESCO programme Education and Respect for All and in line with the UNESCO Decision school-related gender-based violence, “Learning without fear” (adopted at the 196th session of the Executive Board), UNESCO Headquarters, the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Permanent Delegation of Uruguay, and other UNESCO Member States have the pleasure of inviting Education Ministers, or their representatives, this event, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands, Ms. Jet Bussemaker, and other high level representatives.

The tentative programme includes introductory remarks by Minister Bussemaker, a short film on “Voices of young people”, a high-level panel with representation from different regions, and a progress report on activities implemented by UNESCO and outlook towards the UNESCO ministerial meeting organized on the occasion of IDAHOT 2016.
