Thematic Partnerships

Thematic partnerships facilitate collaborative action to tackle specific issues. Major thematic partnerships include: 

The UNAIDS Inter-agency Task Team on Education, convened by UNESCO, provides a platform for advocacy, networking and harmonisation among international partners.

EDUCAIDS is a multi-country UNAIDS initiative led by UNESCO to support the implementation of national educational responses to HIV and AIDS.

The UN Girls' Education Initiative (UNGEI) is coordinated by UNICEF and aims to narrow the gender gap so that girls everywhere enjoy an equal chance to obtain schooling.

A Global Task Force on Child Labour and Education for All (EFA) has been established between UNESCO, International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Education International and Global March against Child Labour.

UNESCO/NGO Collective Consultation on Higher Education
Established in 1988, this network consists of 60 organizations representing all areas of the higher education community. It acts as a think tank to assist UNESCO in the orientation of its higher education programme, and participates in its implementation.

Global Partnership for Education (GPE)
The Global Partnership for Education is comprised of 46 developing countries, and more than 30 bilateral, regional, and international agencies, development banks, the private sector, teachers, local and global civil society groups, devoted to getting all children everywhere into school for a quality education.
