Jornalismo cidadão: informa ou deforma? (for sale)

UNESCO

This piece of work is part of the Information for All Programme, which aims at promoting universal access to information and knowledge for development, as well as proposing the democratization of journalism, in the sense of allowing the common citizen to publicize news without any entrepreneurial interference, under the charge of the Independent Media Centre (IMC), present today in 57 countries. The author makes it clear that the IMC, as any other technological resource, will only establish itself as a true democratizing agent, as long as it ensures the consolidation of citizenship in the country, presupposing that social inequalities will be continuously addressed, as a consequence of strong political will. This book allows for the potential of citizen journalism to be visualized in relation to the big social changes experienced in our days, among which, journalism stands out as one of the most vulnerable professions to such changes, a big scale result of the great scientific and technological advances.
