NGOs - Civil society

In the context of Education for All, civil society refers to all non-governmental and non-profit associations involved in education. This includes groups such as campaign networks, teacher unions and religious organizations, community associations and research networks, parents' associations and professional bodies, student organizations, research institutes, social movements and others.

Civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations form networks for advocacy, lobbying and information exchange and are active at both the national and international level. Two key groups are the Collective Consultation of NGOs on EFA and the Global Campaign for Education.
