Regional Conference "Addressing online hate speech in South East Europe and Turkey: the role of media accountability mechanisms"

This regional conference will address the issue of online hate speech in in South East Europe and Turkey and how this can be tackled by media accountability mechanisms. This event is taking place in the framework of the EU-UNESCO Project "Media Accountability in South East Europe".
This event will gather participants from the 7 target countries of the project "Media Accountability in South East Europe" which are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Turkey and Kosovo (under UNSCR 1244). The participants will report on the national roundtable discussions that took place in their country previously to this regional event. The conference will focus on the issue of online hate speech and the know-how of establishing and running independent press councils in transitional societies, as well as best practices and sucess stories both in and beyond the region.
