The heads of two statues are recovered

March 2013 - the heads of two statues from the classical museum of the archaeological site of Sabratha, inscribed on the World Heritage List (1982), were looted. In June 2013, the smugglers were arrested and the heads were recovered. More

Expert Meeting (October 2011)

Libyan experts and international archeological missions participated in the expert meeting, as well as international cultural institutions and UNESCO partner organizations active in this field, held at UNESCO Headquarters on 21 October 2011. The meeting aimed at exchanging information on the situation in Libya and initiating a network of experts and institutions with a view to a future support to Libya.
