ECCE Country Profiles

Country profiles were commissioned by the Education for All Global Monitoring Report as background information to assist in drafting the 2007 Report: Strong Foundations: Early Childhood Care and Education, and compiled by UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE). The profiles may include the following information:

- Starting age of compulsory education 
- National definition of ISCED programmes
- Normative age group(s) covered by ISCED  programmes
- ISCED programmes: statistics and indicators
- Information about other ECCE programmes (generally preceding ISCED programmes)
- Legislation concerning ECCE
- Official body/bodies in charge of supervision or coordination
- Other entities involved in the provision and main types of providers
- Type of personnel involved
- Type of staff training
- Recent national policies and reforms
- Efforts targeted at vulnerable or disadvantaged children
- Information concerning the ECCE curriculum or the contents
- Information about parenting programmes
