Nine Mauritanian journalists will take part in a study trip to Morocco in order to reinforce their journalistic capacities.
Within the framework of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), and in cooperation with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Mauritanian National Commission for UNESCO, the UNESCO Office in Rabat organises, from 21 to 30 July 2008, a training course for nine journalists, members of the Network of Mauritanian Women Journalists.
This Mauritanian Network promotes gender equality and development in the media landscape of Mauritania. The three day training course in Rabat, Morocco, will focus on the basics of journalism, writing and radio programme production. The participants will also attend a one week internship: written press journalists will be hosted by the Arab Maghreb Agency and the audiovisual journalists by the National Broadcasting Company of Morocco.
This training is part of the UNESCO contribution to promote equal opportunities for women journalists and to reinforce their professional capacities. The project aims also at encouraging the participation of Mauritanian women in the media landscape of the country as it enters a new era of media liberalisation.
