UNESCO expert meeting on ICTs in the Service of Persons with Disabilities

Over 10% of the world’s population suffers from a variety of disabilities. However, information and communication technologies (ICTs) have the potential for providing key improvements in the lives of these persons. ICTs offer individuals the ability to compensate for physical or functional limitations, to access knowledge by adapting digital media to the nature of their disabilities, and to enhance their social and economic integration in communities by enlarging the scope of activities available to them. By collaborating with other persons and institutions that share these concerns, it is UNESCO’s hope that these opportunities can be realized.
