Regional Scientific Committees are established for each of the five regions involved in the Forum initiative (i.e. Africa, Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and North America and Latin America and the Caribbean). The Regional Scientific Committees are composed of research experts and policy-makers, and meet regularly to facilitate the gathering of data and findings from the regions; identify critical issues of debate; conceptualize research topics; engage in public and institutional discourse; and formulate short and long-term strategies for promoting research.
The Regional Scientific Committees facilitate the planning and organization of Regional Research Seminars as well as identify research and researchers for the Seminars; related research institutions; research gaps; and what are the existing resources for research in the region so as to provide information on under-funded research.
To link the work of the Regional Scientific Committees, the Chair of each Committee will be part of the Global Scientific Committee.
