In his first address to the international community since the deadly terrorist attacks that struck Paris on 13 November, the President of France, François Hollande, declared his commitment to “freedom, human creativity and intercultural dialogue.”

H.E. Mr Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, this afternoon addressed the Leaders’ Forum, which since yesterday has brought together Heads of State and Government, ministers, ambassadors and high level participants from around the world in the context of the 38th session of the General Conference of UNESCO, under the Presidency of Stanley Mutumba Simataa.

The President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, addressed this afternoon’s session of the Leaders’ Forum, which since yesterday has brought together Heads of State and Government, ministers, ambassadors and high level participants from around the world in the context of the 38th session of the General Conference of UNESCO. The President made her remarks in the presence of the President of the General Conference, Stanley Mutumba Simataa, and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova.

H.E. Mr. Jorge Carlos De Almeida Fonseca, President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, addressed the plenary. After praising the work of UNESCO over the past 70 years, the President pointed to the challenges facing humanity, such as the state of quality education, the protection of the environment and the development of effective citizenship.
