UNESCO strategy on education in Africa

The main concern for African countries is to meet the needs for basic education of all children, youth and adults by offering them a fair chance to receive quality teaching and to acquire skills that are crucial for developing their full potential.

UNESCO assists African countries to meet the Education for All goals. Priority is given to the following challenges: universal provision of primary education; elimination of gender disparity in education; combating HIV/AIDS and transmissible diseases; development of the appropriate use of ICTs for education purposes.

The Organization works to create greater synergy among key African Education for All partners, and increase internal and external financial assistance for education. More
