Programme in education

UNESCO’s education programme in Africa focuses on Education for All, educational reform and capacity-building. The aim: to reinforce countries’ capacities to rethink the role of education and to undertake the necessary renewal, reconstruction and development of their education systems.

UNESCO works in close cooperation with the Secretariat of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and the African Union as well as with other development partners to implement this new initiative. A special effort is made to increase the involvement of civil society in policy dialogue.
