Conference of the Ministers of Education of African Member States (MINEDAF)

The MINEDAF conferences, which on average are held every five years, constitute important reference points for the evolution of education in Africa. It brings together representatives of African and non-African countries, UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations and civil society.

The first MINEDAF conference took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1961 and the most recent was organized in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, in 2002. The conferences aim to mobilize world opinion, decision-makers and the international community to support education for all in Africa. Focus is on policy, cooperation and strategic planning.
