Four core components:
  • School health policies
  • Water, sanitation and the environment
  • Skills-based health education
  • School-based health services

  • Three supporting strategies:
  • Partnerships between education and health
  • Community partnerships
  • Pupil awareness and participation

  • The overall goal of FRESH is to make schools healthier for children, children more able to learn, and Education for All more likely to be achieved.

The purpose of this site/CD-ROM is twofold: first, to encourage those who plan school-based health programmes to use the FRESH approach; and second, to provide those who implement such programmes, in particular teachers and educators, with a set of practical tools for achieving the best results. The tools consist of different types of educational materials such as lesson plans, checklists, etc. They are provided online and grouped by FRESH core component and by health theme. They are all drawn from existing resource materials, also provided online, published by FRESH partners and other associations.

    This site/CD-Rom was made possible
by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

It was launched by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Cristina Owen-Jones
