The Republic of Congo joined UNESCO on October 24, 1960. The Organization’s Field Office in Brazzaville will remain open until 2009.

The Republic of Congo participates in UNESCO's Teacher Training Initiative for sub-Saharan Africa (TTISSA), a 10-year project aimed at restructuring national teacher policies in 46 sub-Saharan countries.
