Saudi Arabia joined UNESCO on November 4, 1946. It is covered by the UNESCO Office Doha, in Qatar.

Created in 1976, this cluster Office represents UNESCO in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In 2001, Saudi Arabia established a UNESCO chair to train teachers in the health field at the Sebai Institute for Development.
