The main objective of the conference of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics of the UB, which is held annually, is to promote the “Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights” as a shared task between the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics of the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Bioethics and Law Observatory of the UB (OBD), located at the Barcelona Science Park.

Internationally renowned individuals, such as Dafna Feinholz, Chief of the UNESCO’s Bioethics Section, and Consuelo Vazquez, Director of Programmes of the Spanish Commission of this organization, will participate in this Conference. Additionally, it includes two round tables in which a group of experts in the fields of law and health will participate, debating different aspects related with human rights.

The opening remarks and presentation of this conference will be carried out by the rector of the University of Barcelona, Dídac Ramírez, the general director of the Barcelona Science Park, Fernando Albericio, and Dr Maria Casado, holder of the UNESCO chair in Bioethics of the UB and director of the Bioethics and Law Observatory, PCB-UB, located at the PCB. The event will take place at the Caparrós Auditorium (D Tower, Baldiri Reixac, 4) with the support of the Department of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise of the Generalitat de Catalonia and in collaboration with the Association of Bioethics and Law of the UB.

The mission of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics of the UB is to promote an integrated system of research, training and dissemination activities in the field of Bioethics in order to facilitate collaboration between renowned specialists, universities and higher education institutions in Europe, America and other regions of the world. It also aims to promote the transfer of experience acquired by the Bioethics and Law Observatory to developing countries.
