Lithuania


Lithuania joined UNESCO on October 7, 1991. In the field of education, Lithuania organised in 2005 a High-Level Meeting of Environment and Education Ministers on the theme of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, in which UNESCO participated. Lithuania holds three UNESCO Chairs and has one UNEVOC Centre.

As of September 2006, Lithuania has 24 schools participating in the UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
