    Kyambogo University is established by the universities and other tertiary institutions instrument of 2003, as a merger of Uganda Polytechnica Kyambogo (UPK, which used to be the UNEVOC Centre), Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK) and Uganda National Instute of Special Education (UNISE). Kyambogo University is focused on vocationalising and universialising education at all levels. The university has six faculties where a wide range of post- and undergraduate programmes are offered (arts & social sciences, education, engineering, vocational studies, science, speial needs and rehabilitation). Programmes are both conventional (day and evening) and others through distance learning. Apart from direct entry, there is opportunity for academic progression through Mature Age Entry and in-service schemes.
