EDUCATION

Republic of Moldova

The Republic of Moldova joined UNESCO on 27 May 1992, and is covered by the Organization’s office based in Moscow, Russian Federation.

The Education for All (EFA) programme has been integrated into the national poverty reduction strategy of the Republic of Moldova; this is the fruit of close collaboration between UNESCO and the Government of Moldova.

Moldova participates in EDUCAIDS, a UNESCO-led response to HIV and AIDS. This initiative aims to address the impact of HIV/AIDS, prevent the spread of HIV and support education systems related to HIV/AIDS learning environments. The country has two UNESCO Chairs. As of September 2006, the country has 7 schools participating in the UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
