Serbia

The Republic of Serbia continues the membership in UNESCO of the State Union Serbia and Montenegro (further to the Declaration of Independence adopted by the National Assembly of Montenegro on 3 June 2006).

The then Serbia and Montenegro joined UNESCO on December 20, 2000, but the former Yugoslavia joined the Organization as early as 1950. In 2004, a UNESCO Chair in Studies of Interculturalism, Art and Cultural Management and Mediation in the Balkans was created at the University of Arts in Belgrade.
