Type of Institution:
A budgetary, non-profit, educational organisation operating in the network of secondary vocational schools and secondary vocational apprentice schools of the Slovak Republic. The Institute cooperates in the development of vocational policy; participates in the preparation and development of educational standards and modules, innovation and testing of educational programmes; ensures further education for secondary school teacher via seminars, courses, methodology days, innovative and specialising studies; supports development and implementation of international projects, organises educational activities, national competitions, exhibitions or conferences; analyses trends and needs for development of VET in Slovakia; one department - Slovak Centre for Training Firms - supports vocational education through simulation of a firm life through the subject of Training Firms. Slovak National Observatory at SIOV, created by the European Training Foundation in Turin, monitors information on current issues of VET and its links to the labour market.
