The Congress will be held on 17-19 September 2009 in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russian Federation).

Mission:
Use of the potential of World Academic Community and UNESCO Chairs for the order of establish long-term and consecutive program of actions for ESD.

Aims and purposes

• Development of educational policy and strategy aimed at achieving of the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development Goals in the framework of UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Program.
• Study of global, regional and national challenges for the ESD development.
• Search for ways of cooperation between UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks established worldwide, easy –to accede, quality forms and methods of ESD.
• Establishment of long-term and consecutive program of actions for ESD.
• Creation of UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Networks for Sustainable Development.
• Study of different aspects of social and economic prosperity, cultural and educational traditions, attitudes towards environment for the sustainable future in the conditions of globalization.
• Working out recommendations for coordination of educational policy and strategy aimed at achieving of the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development Goals to be reported to the 35-th session of the UNESCO General Conference.
