The new publication, entitled ICT Transforming Education: A Regional Guide, is written for teachers, teacher educators, heads of schools and ICT coordinators in the Asia-Pacific region. It draws upon the best practices and lessons learnt, and aims at equipping its readers with the competencies and resources to use ICT.
This Regional Guide contains a pool of knowledge that UNESCO’s Bangkok Office has gained from almost 20 ICT in education projects implemented in the region. Short “snapshots” written by innovative teachers and teacher educators are included to show how ICT are being used to transform education practice.
The 12 chapters of the Guide may be categorised into several broad but interdependent components: This Regional Guide is published within the framework of UNESCO’s project on ICT in Education implemented by the Bangkok Office. The print version is targeting those teachers and teacher educators in developing countries who cannot access Internet regularly. An online learning portal has been created for people with Internet access. The ICT in Education project has strengthened more than 40 teacher education institutions to act as local resource-distributing and training centers. The centers will be equipped with copies of the new Guide and other resources developed by the UNESCO Bangkok Office. They will distribute these materials to local teachers in need and organize at least one workshop per year. The new publication can be downloaded here, free of charge. Related themes/countries
