Director-General Visits Indonesia to Advance Freedom of Expression and Dialogue World-wide

From 28 to 30 August, 2014, the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, is undertaking a visit to Bali, Indonesia, to participate in the Global Media Forum, organised by the Government of Indonesia and UNESCO, and the 6th Annual Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations.

The Director-General is expected to meet with high-level officials of the Government of Indonesia, as well as with Ministers present for the Global Media Forum and the Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations.

The Director-General will deliver the closing statement to the Global Media Forum (26-28 August 2014), on the theme of ‘The Role of Media in Realising the Future We Want for All.’

The 6th Annual Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations will explore the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity: celebrating Diversity for Common and Shared Values’ (29-30, August, 2014). The Director-General will deliver a speech during the UN Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends Ministerial Meeting on 29 August, where she will underline UNESCO’s work to promote cultural diversity on the basis of human rights, including through its leadership of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022).
