  March 6 –April 26, 2007 (Spain)- Sustainable Development: Putting thought into practice, by the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development and Environmental Education of the UPV-EHU(Universidad del País Vasco)

  The complementary course, "Sustainable Development: putting thought into practice" is in response to the responsibility that today’s university has to study, shape and raise awareness about sustainable development.
 

This course is organized by the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development and Environmental Education of the UPV-EHU and the Department of Plant Biology and Ecology, From March 6 to April 26, 2007 , at Leioa campus, Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU), Faculty of Science and Technology (ZTF/FCT)Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The theme of sustainable development will be approached from different fields and levels. It starts with the definition of the concept of sustainable development and follows with energy and climate change, science and technology for sustainability, education for sustainability, strategies for sustainability, environmental participation and Agenda 21.

6 recognized elective credits.

Aimed at:
University students from various disciplines interested in knowing and more deeply understanding the concept of Sustainable Development and Environmental Education.

Methodology:

During the course (3 hours) the speakers from the University, Public Institutions and Non-governmental Organisations will be relied upon. This will help give a broad and different view of sustainable development from various fields.
One of these hours will be dedicated to encouraging the participants in group work, discussion and debate.
