Director-General Meets Norwegian Minister of Education, Mr Torbjorn Roe Isaksen

On 25 March, Irina Bokova met the Minister of Education and Research of Norway in Oslo, Mr Torbjorn Roe Isaksen.

The Director-General thanked the Minister for his Government's support to UNESCO's work to advance education for all, embodied in the new Partnership Cooperation Agreement and the decisions of the Prime Minister. Discussion followed on issues relating to the 'Arusha' convention as well as open educational resources.

This was followed by a review of UNESCO's across a range of areas, including freedom of expression, the ocean and IOC as well as the overall reform of the Organization.

The Director-General explored also UNESCO's work for girls' education and presented the gender summary of the Global Monitoring Report. The Minister thanked Irina Bokova and underlined this as an area of priority for the Government.
