        人权教育作为教育权不可或缺的一部分，越来越被认为是人权本身的一部分。有关权利和自由的知识被认为是尊重所有人权利的基本保障。

        教科文组织有关人权教育的工作是在世界人权教育计划下进行的。

        教育应包含以下价值观，如和平、非歧视、平等、公正、非暴力、宽容和对人类尊严的尊重。基于人权的优质教育意味着权利在整个教育体制和学习环境中得到贯彻实施。
