Education
In April 2000, the World Education Forum (Dakar, Senegal) underlined the urgency of ensuring education for girls and women as one of the key elements of poverty eradication and development.

Guided by this landmark event, UNESCO’s strategic objectives in the area of Education are to :

· Promote education as a fundamental right in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;

· Improve the quality of education through the diversification of contents and methods and the promotion of universally shared values ;

· Promote experimentation, innovation and the diffusion and sharing of information and best practices as well as policy dialogue in education.
