World Heritage and SIDS

In terms of both cultural and natural sites, the World Heritage List contains relatively few sites in small island developing states. Several measures are being undertaken by the World Heritage Centre to redress this imbalance, in such fields as capacity building, with launch activities in the Caribbean (Kingston, Jamaica, 27-29 September 2004) and the Pacific (Tongariro National Park, New Zealand, 17-22 October 2004).
