World Heritage

The World Heritage List includes 936 properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the World Heritage Committee considers as having outstanding universal value.

These include 725 cultural , 183 natural and 28 mixed properties in 153 States Parties. As of March 2012, 189 States Parties have ratified the World Heritage Convention.

Following the Regional Launch Meeting of the Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting for Africa (Dakar, Senegal, 20-22 January 2010) and the work which has progressed in the 44 States Parties to the World Heritage Convention and 78 World Heritage properties, this sub-regional meeting will be held from 8 to 10 September 2010 in Windhoek, Namibia. More
