UNESCO-BRESCE & Creativity - La Biennale di Venezia “Making Worlds”

work-art-1.jpg UNESCO-BRESCE News (Italy) 4/6/2009 : In continuing its support to the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, and the cultural creativity of South Eastern and Central Europe, the UNESCO Office in Venice-UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (BRESCE), is pleased to announce that it will host the pavilion of the Republic of Montenegro at Palazzo Zorzi (4930 Castello, Venice). This represents the first independent participation of Montenegro to the 53rd International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia, entitled “Making Worlds”.

The well-known Montenegrin-born artist Dado, has prepared a surrealistic contemporary art exhibition of paintings and sculptures christened as the “ZORZI ELEGIES”, in honour of Palazzo Zorzi, premises of UNESCO-BRESCE. The exhibition is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Media of Montenegro with the support of UNESCO-BRESCE and installed by the National Museum of Montenegro. The commissioner of the exhibition is Michael Peppiatt and Assistant Commissioners: Yanitza Djuric, Jill Lloyd.

The 2005 UNESCO Convention clearly recognizes, “that the diversity of cultural expressions, including traditional cultural expressions, is an important factor that allows individuals and peoples to express and to share with others their ideas and values,” and is also “…a source of intangible and material wealth…which is a positive contribution to sustainable development”.
