Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover is the President of AMADE, (World Association of Children's Friends) and the Princess Grace Foundation. H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover was named President of Worldwide Association of Children's Friends In 1993. This non-governmental association was created to protect children’s rights at international level and to develop and support concrete projects in the field of humanitarian assistance.

On 25 and 26 February 2003, AMADE organized under UNESCO’s auspices an International Round Table composed of experts in humanitarian and criminal law, to examine one of the most important elements in the defence of children’s rights: the classification of the most serious crimes committed against children as crimes against humanity.

The Princess Grace Foundation established in 1964 by Princess Grace is a charitable organization with a philanthropic vocation.

At the Initiative of the Princess of Hanover, the Grace Foundation has undertaken specific humanitarian campaigns, such as providing moral support to hospitalized children, the renovation and rehabilitation of hospitals in Europe and in Third World countries, and fostering medical research through four specialized laboratories.

“…All your actions bear witness to your compassion for the suffering of children. Your commitments are underpinned by our common values, wich we strive to defend and promote on a daily basis…”, said the Director-General in his address during the nomination ceremony.

“…The Millennium Development Goals of halving extreme poverty and famine and achieving gender parity are the guiding principles of the present project...“ said Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover in her address.

His Excellency Sheikh Ghassan I. Shaker, Mrs Claudia Cardinale, Mr Pierre Bergé, Mr Patrick Baudry, Mr KittÍn Muñoz and his wife Princess Kalina of Bulgaria, and Mr Madanjeet Singh, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors, attended the nomination ceremony.
