Special event – A talk with the artist of the exhibition “Living Ancestors”, Gabrielle Le Roux Organized by the Division for Gender Equality of the Bureau of Strategic Planning, in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of Dominica to UNESCO. 9 March, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Room V

 
Within the framework of her exhibition “Living Ancestors”, which is composed of drawings of the daughters and granddaughters of enslaved Africans in Dominica, Gabrielle Le Roux, artist and activist for social justice, will give us the opportunity to better understand the rationale of her show which pays tribute to ten Dominican women and their remarkable lives.

She will talk about her experiences interviewing and drawing the women featured in the Living Ancestors exhibition, and explore survival and celebration in the face of poverty and oppression.

With the participation of Ben Caesar, the son of Gabrielle Le Roux and a young and talented Hip-Hop artist from South Africa, who will pay tribute to the women of Dominica, his country of origin, through his songs.
