Conference and film projection : "Voices on the rise : Afghan Women Making the News”

Within the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Conference "Voices on the rise : Afghan Women Making the News” and projection of the film "Girls on the air", with the presence of Ms Humaira Habib, Head of a Women's Community Radio Station in Afghanistan "radio Sahar" in the Herat Province, Afghanistan and Ms Horia Mosadiq, Afghan researcher for Amnesty International. It will take place on 22 November 2010 - UNESCO HQ, Room II, from 4.30 pm to 7.00 pm.
 
afghan camerawoman.jpg "Voices on the Rise: Afghan Women Making the News" provides a look into the lives of Afghan women journalists, producers, managers, writers, photographers, filmmakers, human rights activists and parliamentarians.

The Conference (4.30 pm - 6 pm) will be followed by the projection of the film of Valentina Monti, "Girls on the Air", (6 pm - 7 pm) which shows an image of Afghanistan very different from the usual stereotypes (Italy, 2010 – 63 min – Original version in dari, english subtitles).

Inscription requested, within the limit of available places.

The inauguration of the artistic exhibition “Voices on the Rise: Afghan Women Making the News" by Khorshied Samad and Jane McElhone, Curators of the exhibition, will take place at 6:50 p.m. and will stand till 29 November 2010 in Salle des pas perdus.
